If you’ve seen any of my content, you will know that I love fitness and I love superheroes! As such, every time a new super hero movie comes out it serves as a great opportunity for me to create a “superhero transformation video”. This week the highly anticipated sequel to Deadpool is being released, which stars Josh Brolin as the antagonist in the movie as Cable.

Now you may well have already seen some of the promotional shots from the movie and the trailer, where Josh looks pretty different and is clearly in really good shape. In addition to that, if you follow Josh on Instagram he has been posting pictures of his condition along with a whole load of training videos where he looks fantastic, especially when you consider the fact he is currently 49 years old.

To get into shape for the role, Josh enlisted the help of trainer Justin David Lovato, and was given an intense training plan and a strict diet. Some of the details of his training plan and diet are shared in the video below.

Josh Brolin on steroids for Cable

Understandably many have been quick to criticise Josh, saying that he must have used steroids or other performance enhancing drugs to achieve his physique so quickly and at his age. Although I always have a healthy amount of scepticism when it comes to performance enhancers and Hollywood transformations, Josh’s physique (as good as it is) doesn’t seem unattainable naturally. Remember that high paid actors get access to the best trainers, dietitians, chefs that prepare all their meals etc, and if you watch his training videos he clearly had a strong work ethic. He also did not seem to add a great deal of muscle to his frame, rather he just trimmed down considerably. Finally, in response to the criticism he made the following comment:

I have no problem being honest. I don’t give a f**k. If I was doing s**t, I’d say so. There’s no professional consequence. Clean all the way through man, except for my little nicotine tablets.

For those that think it’s impossible: f**k off. For those that realise that your body type and work put in with dictate your best results, that’s all that matters.

Everyone will have their own opinions on this, but I think he clearly worked very hard and looks great! I can’t wait to see the movie.
